The gypsy moth is one of America's worst forest pest insects. These insects feed on the foliage of more than 500 trees and shrubs and cause enormous damage to the environment and the economy.

There have been many introductions of gypsy moth into our state since the 1970s, but the Washington State Department of Agriculture has successfully detected and eradicated every infestation and has kept the pest from becoming established here.
