Pesticide Storage

Requirements relating to the storage of unattended pesticides and their containers is found in WAC 16-228-1220 (6) and (7) of the General Pesticide Rules (Word version or Acrobat pdf version) and on pesticide labels. A review of these storage requirements is contained on pages 10 & 11of the Washington Pesticide Laws Hand-Out Booklet.

The Department of Agriculture also has requirements for the storage of bulk pesticides in its Secondary and Operational Containment for Bulk Pesticides Rules. These rules establish the requirements for which containment is required for both fertilizers and pesticides. The fact sheet Important Information Concerning Secondary Containment of Bulk Pesticides, Fertilizers and Operational Area Containment may help you determine if these rules apply to you.
