Premises Registration is Voluntary in Washington State.

What information is needed for premises registration?

Name or description of the location (i.e. farm name)

Address or driving directions to the location
-
Contact information (i.e. name, phone number, e-mail, etc.)

Type of operation (i.e. farm, slaughter, clinic, etc.)

Species of animals on the location
What is a premises?
-
A physical location where livestock are raised, held or boarded (ie. ranches,
farms, feedlots, renderers, markets, ports of entry, veterinary
clinics/laboratories, etc…)

WSDA recommends that producers with bovine (cattle & bison), equine (horses,
mules & donkeys), swine, goats, sheep, poultry and camelids (llamas &
alpacas) register their premises
What is a PIN (Premises Identification Number)?

A PIN is a unique seven digit alpha-numeric identifier that is assigned to registered
premises

A PIN is needed when purchasing United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
official NAIS animal identification devices
Where is premises information stored?
-
NAIS Premises registration information is housed on a secure federal server
-
WSAIS Premises information is stored at the State level in a secure Washington State database
How is premises information protected?
-
Premises information is confidential
-
All information submitted by an individual or a business for the purpose of
participating in a state or national identification system is exempt from
public disclosure under RCW 42.56.380(9)
